Our Practitioners

Mel qualified as a Clinical Sports and Remedial Massage Practitioner in 2012, a career move which was inspired after suffering a serious ankle injury. The rehabilitation process triggered her fascination with how touch can help change soft tissues and promote healing.  Mel enjoys working with clients of all ages as it ensures her work is varied, and encourages her to always be learning.  

Frances been in practice for over 20 years. Originally training in healing and massage, she qualified in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in 1998, and divides her time between private practice and teaching. Originally a professional violinist Frances works a great deal with musicians, and incorporates sounding into her practice. She recently set up the Community Herb Clinic at the Centre, offering treatment at cost while conducting a teaching clinic.

Clare is a former medical doctor with over 11 years’experience of working in hospital medicine and general practice in the NHS in the UK. She has trained both in China and in the UK in Traditional Acupuncture, and practised as an acupuncturist for 10 years from an Oxford-based clinic. She is the author of a textbook of clinical medicine which is currently used in the training of acupuncturists in the UK.

Lesley has been in practice 25 years, initially training in Remedial Massage with the Northern Institute of Massage and then with the McTimoney College in Oxford. With her interest in structurally balancing the body, she went on to train as a Pilates Mat and Comprehensive StudioTeacher with Body Control Pilates.

Her treatments are a combination of a Holistic Spinal Manipulation and Remedial Massage.

Susannah has been in practice for 14 years and trained at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine.  Susannah practices in Cholsey and also teaches at the acupuncture college in Reading.  Susannah has also trained in Tui Na,  a Chinese bodywork technique and incorporates this into her treatments.  Susannah has trained with the Zita West network and was a founder member of the Acupuncture for Childbirth team in Berkshire.   


John qualified as a traditional acupuncturist in 1988, and has practised in Windsor for over thirty years. As well as being a practitioner he was also Secretary of the British Acupuncture Council, and was heavily involved in the development of the Council since its inception in 1995. Having moved to the village in 2010 he has since become heavily involved as Treasurer and Trustee at the Cholsey Pavilion Trust, Cholsey Day Centre, Choko, Cholsey Volunteers Trust and more!


Frances trained at the City College of Acupuncture in London. She originally trained as a musician and have worked freelance as an orchestral player for 20 years. A very helpful course of acupuncture treatment in 2014-15 inspired her to become an acupuncturist herself, and she values its ability to help people on both a physical and mental-emotional level. She has lived in the area all her life and in Cholsey for 12 years
